National BBQ Week | #BEDM Day 27

Alright guys and gals, it is officially National BBQ Week! So what other way is there to celebrate other than having your very own BBQ!? That's what I was thinking also, there isn't! haha ;)

I am going to share with you all some recipes I found that would make a perfect BBQ. I am going to incorporate meats, veggies, and even some vegetarian recipes. I am not one to eat a whole lot of meat, so of course I had to throw in some healthier type bbq. So lets get started with some of the recipes I found. =D

#BEDM | Blog Everday in May Challenge Day 5

Topic: Cinco De Mayo/ Lets be Mexican

This day has a special meaning to me other than it being the well known Mexican holiday, Cinco De Mayo. Today also happens to the day my hubby was brought into this world. Although, he has never been big on celebrating his birthday, I still try to make his day, just that, all about him (because we all know, I want the same on my birthday, LOL). So happy birthday to my hubby & happy cinco de mayo to all!

Although Mexian food happens to be one of my favorite things to eat on a normal basis, I want to eat it even more on Cinco De Mayo. I'm not one for huge crowds and today brings huge crowds to Mexican restaurants. Since I don't like to deal with the crowds, but I want Mexican food, why not celebrate at home and make your own!? I am going to share a few  recipes that my hubby and I like to make to celebrate this day.

Just a fair warning, these recipes are going to contain no meat. I'm sure you can add meat to each of these recipes, but my hubby and I try to eat less meat as possible. Just a little heads up, so let the recipes begin! =D

Recipes | Berry Banana Smoothie

We all love our smoothies, whether its from the smoothie place down the street, or the grocery store ones. We all know those aren't the healthiest and the ingredients aren't always what they seem. So nothing beats a homemade smoothie with simple ingredients and a blender. This recipe is one of my favorites and I love to make it in the morning as a "pick me up".

The Ingredients:
  1. One Whole Banana, Sliced
  2. 1 Cup Frozen Mixed Berries
  3. 1 Cup Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt
  4. 1 Cup Non-Sweet Almond Milk (Can be substituted for milk, soy milk, or sweet almond milk)
  5. 1 Cup Simply Orange Juice
After you have the ingredients and your blender ready, all you are going to need to do is add all the ingredients into the blender. I like to add all the solid ingredients, then the yogurt and then the liquids. Once all the ingredients are placed into the blender, you then blend. If your blender has a smoothie setting, use that, if not start with the lowest setting, working your way up to the highest setting. This will insure a well blended drink and no harsh pieces from the mixed berries.

Once the smoothie is at the consistancy that you prefer, add the mixture to a glass and enjoy!

Enjoy and share your smoothie recipes! I would love to try some of yours! :)
