Beauty | L'oreal Ideal Moisture Review/First Impression

The long awaited moisturizer review has arrived! I picked this up at my local grocery store when I was just browsing the make-up/skin care isle. It caught my eye for numerous reasons, one its a new product (new at least to myself), two it claims to have hydration power lasting for 48 hours, three it has SPF.

I have been looking for a drugstore moisturizer for a long time that can handle my patchy dry spots but not make me look like a disco ball. ;)

Product Size and Price: 4 fl oz, $6.99-$8.99 (depending on where you buy it)

My Skin Type:
  • oily T-zone
  • dry patches around my nose and in the middle of my cheeks

What L'oreal Claims:

  • Oil-Free Lotion that refreshes and hydrates normal skin.
  • 48 Hour moisture with Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 25 Protection.
  • Infused with antioxidant Vitamin E.
  • Moisture that feels clean and barely there.
  • Immediately: Skin feels more hydrated and has a healthy glow.
  • After 4 weeks: Skin appears softer and more radiant.
  • Won't clog pores.

My Thoughts:

I have been using this moisturizer as my only day lotion for the past month and a half. I wanted to get a good feel for the product before I recommended it to anyone.

My first impressions: I loved the packaging. Nice and sturdy and easy to use. It has a slight SPF scent to it. Nothing crazy or anything, but if you are not a fan of the SPF scent, you may not like this product. It was lightweight and wasn't heavy at all.

First time applying: At first I thought the product wasn't going to fully soak into my skin, but after about one minute my face started to feel normal. It definitely hydrated my skin. Just as it claims, it felt like nothing was there after it fully soaked in. I used just a little over a dime size amount. I like to warm up the product between my pointing fingers and middle fingers on both hands, then apply to my face. This also ensures that I apply it evenly.

How my skin reacted: The dry spots around my nose and cheeks are no longer there. My T-zone didn't get oily at all, but yet felt moisturized. The immediate results that L'oreal claimed were very true. My skin felt very moisturized and had a healthy glow to it. After 4 weeks, I did notice my skin felt so much smoother and has a healthy glow to it naturally.

I can't honestly give my opinion on whether it lasts 48 hours or not, only because I wash my face every night before bed and when I wake up in the morning. So I haven't had the chance to test that claim. I'm not sure if I ever will. I can say my skin on my face feels amazing through out the whole day. I don't get patchy spots anymore and I don't have moments where I feel like my face is dry.

Like I said earlier, I have been using this for about a month and a half, the bottle has over half left. So this will last you a long time. I have definitely got my moneys worth from this product. :)

I would most definitely recommend this product to someone who has similar skin issues as I do. In the past, I had to use two different moisturizers to complete my routine. I couldn't use just one because it wouldn't do the job completely. One moisturizer would be for the spots on my face that didn't need a whole lot and the other would be for the patchy dry spots. Thankfully, I have finally found my All-in-One product!

Let me know if you have any holy grail moisturizers you just can't live with out. I would love to try any other products that may blow this one out of the water. For now, I am going to use the heck out of it!

  13. Why would anyone need 48 hours of moisture-- kind of a weird selling point! I can see 24 hours. I will have to try it for my nose area. Thank you for the review :)

  14. 48 hours of moisture? What happens when you take a shower every day?

  15. That's great you got rid if the dry patches! I have to use a cetaphil intensive moisturizer that is as thick as butter!

  24. It is so hard for me to find moisturizer that doesn't make my skin more oily, so this is good to know. I'll look for this the next time I'm at CVS.
