Beauty | Jamberry Nails Review | #BEDM Day 13

Has there ever been a time in your life you were fed up with chipping nails? Or just having to constantly re-do them every week? I know how it can be dealing with nail polish and finding that perfect combo to make your polish last longer without having to pay the cost of a professional (we all know that can get costly). What if I told you there is a way to get around the annoying nail routine?

I am a real big nail polish lover. I love doing my nails and getting manicures when possible. The only thing I can't stand about doing my own nails is the lasting power, other than that, I love everything about it (okay maybe not everything, the smell can be harsh sometimes).

Well I was challenged to try these nail wraps called Jamberry Nails. I have never heard of them before I was presented with them and I have to admit I was skeptical. Drugstore nail wraps have been around for a while, but haven't had the best reputation for lasting power. So I just had to try these nail wraps.

One sheet runs for $15 for 18 individual nail wraps in different size ranges. One nail wrap covers two nails. Example: If you use one wrap, your cut it in half and use it on the other coinciding nail. Each wrap has a lasting power of 2 weeks. Yes, I said 2 weeks. There has been reports of them last longer then that.

Each sheet has 18 individual nail wraps. So you get 2-3 manicures and 2 pedicures. That is a steal, if you think about the cost. Going to the salon can run you anywhere between $25-$45. Yes salon manicures and pedicures have a long life span, but they can get costly.

So onto the challenge: I was challenged to try a single wrap on one of my nails (on each hand) and to paint the rest with my normal polish routine. So my polish routine consists of a rubberized base, nail polish, & a quick dry top coat.

I was supposed to wear this nail combo for 7 days total & at the end of the 7 days, I was supposed to compare my nail polish to the Jamberry Nails. This challenge was designed to show the lasting power of the Jamberry Nails versus your normal nail polish routine.

Day 1

The photo above is what my nails looked like on day one. I just chose a simple color that happened to pull one of the colors from the Jamberry Nails sample I received.

So I painted all my nails leaving two natural for the nail wraps with my normal polish routine. For the first time using the Jamberry Nails I found it pretty simple.

The application directions stated on the sheet provided by Jamberry Nails:

  1. Clean unpolished nails with alcohol wipe and push back the cuticles.
  2. Match nail (finger or toe) to the nail wrap that best fits.
  3. Peel off nail wrap and warm with a mini heater or blow-dryer for 3-5 seconds or until soft and flexible.
  4. When warm, press the wrap onto the nail. Apply firm pressure around edges to adhere the wrap to the nail. Use rubber cuticle pusher to seal the wrap around the base of the cuticle.
  5. Trim the top with scissors and file off remaining wrap using a downward motion to remove excess.
  6. Apply heat and pressure to the wrap again until it is bonded to the nail.
(The directions above are the main directions to apply the nail wraps, the company has so many other techniques for application.)

I followed their directions as best I could. The only problem I ran into was placing them on my nail without creasing. I have pretty curved nails so it showed difficult getting those creases out. Now practice makes perfect, so over a few manicures, I'm sure it will be no problem. That was the only problem I was faced with, which I find awesome!

Day 3

The photo above is showing how my nails versus the nail wraps were after 3 days. The nail wraps looked exactly how I put them on the first day. They didn't budge, or break apart, or peel off at all. My nail polish had a little wear and tear along the tips and cuticles. Other than that, the polish was fine also.

Day 7

The photo above is what my nails looked like on the last day of the challenge. As you can see the nail wrap looks completely the same. My nails grow pretty fast, so near the cuticles of the nail wrap you can see where my nails had grown. That is normal and will happen no matter what, but the lasting power of the nail wrap is remarkable. No damage to them at all, they stayed the same through all my normal activities. My nail polish on the other hand didn't last long at all. They were super chipped and it is super easy to see where the growth is.

After Removal

Directions for removal stated on the sheet provided by Jamberry Nails:

Gentle Removal Process:
For nail wraps that have been worn for more than 10 days. Lift a corner of the wrap with tweezers and soak the nail in warmed oil (cuticle, olive, etc.) or polish remover for 20-30 seconds and gently rub and push the wrap off. Soaking will break down the adhesive bond and allow them to easily slide off the nail bed. You can try very warm water in a bowl as well.

Quick Removal Process:
Heat wraps with a blow dryer or mini heater for 15 seconds. Then break the seal by getting under the edge of the nail shield with your opposite thumbnail or tweezers. Slowly heat and peal the shield from side to side. If the nail wraps are not peeling easily or the adhesive is still bonded to the nail bed then follow the Gentle Removal Process.

The removal is super easy. I honestly just peeled them off. I was left with a little sticky residue, but once I washed my hands, that residue no longer exsisted! As you can tell in the photo above, I have no damage done to my natural nails when I peeled the nail wrap off. It was like I never had anything on at all. For my nail polish I use 100% acetone, so this always leaves my nails dry, even after washing my hands.

I think the price for these Jamberry Nail Wraps are amazing and totally worth it. They have amazing lasting power, no chipping or fading, & won't now damage your natural nails at all.

  3. Stumbled upon your blog via G+ - I'm in the middle of a Jamberry Challenge as well. I decided to extend past the 7 day and see how long I could make them last. I'm at day 14 right now and still no sign of wear to the wrap. Love these!
